It's just that compared to the original games, it still feels like it's lacking so much.

That said, XCOM 2 is still a major step forward from Enemy Unknown.

Primarily I'm looking for one mod to create the same feeling as the old game, where it really did feel like you were in command. Since that no longer seems very likely, I"m hoping that maybe someone has built at least a good portion of the things I listed above into a mod (and yes, I googled, so pretty sure the answer is no). With each new XCOM, I keep hoping that they'll take the original game and build on it instead of oversimplifying the game in order to build up the storyline. being able to create your own classes by what you gave to a player to carry (and how much you could carry being determined by your stats), building stats to create a specific type of player, having to decide how to use the player by what their original stats were.the list could go on and on. I also loved having the legs/ramp of the Skyranger as protection if I wanted to use it.Īside from the items that I see listed most often (picking up alien weapons/ammo and using it, etc.), I miss shots that came out of nowhere if it was dark, having to make sure that you put the inexperienced shooters in the front so they didn't shoot their own teammates, being able to destroy walls, fences, doors, etc. I loved how I had to strategize as soon as I landed and before I got off the Skyranger. I keep looking for a new game that plays more like XCOM: UFO Defense, the game that first made me fall in love with the series.
